Love is in the Air

First of all I was very excited to see that the hummingbirds are back at my feeder.  They seem to be very tiny and are taking long drinks.

The buggy took me for a nice rideabout this morning and love is in the air for sure! It is very noisy over there at a nearby farm with lots of squawking and chortling. There are chickens of many breeds and colors, and the numerous turkeys were making the most noise. These are all free ranging critters right on the lawn and grassy banks by the barn and the house. The farm has a sign out that it sells eggs and chicks.
They are hilarious to watch and a joy. HOWEVER, I don't think it is a good idea to have free range turkeys and free range chickens on the same piece of land. From somewhere in my past I remember something about a disease that can spread from the chickens to the turkeys. I can't remember more but that memory comes from my time on farms with my dad.

I did relent and pick some more daffodils for inside to keep the yellow fellows from drowning due to more rain forecasts. The double ones are so different! I love them all.

  1. What kind of hummingbirds do you have there? Ours are the ruby throated ones. Bless their little hearts! They had a long trip to get to you! Your rideabouts are going to be so fun this summer.

    1. I think they are the ruby throated ones but they are very small this year. By the end of summer they plump up!

  2. I will enjoy all your adventures in photos!!! Those turkeys I could watch for hours!!! I never heard of not grouping turkeys and chickens because of disease...so many farms have both. Hmmm.

    1. From the internet: "One of the main ways to keep turkeys healthy is too NOT raise chickens and turkeys together. When turkeys and chickens are raised together, turkeys run a high risk of contracting the disease histomoniasis, also known as blackhead."

  3. Re: your comment.... You have a Schwann truck come, for groceries, every 2 weeks. Perfect!

But then again, you don't wash clothes at home, so would not need Clothes washing stuff, which I suspect, Schwann does not carry. Only groceries. But then, how do I know?????

Anyway, home delivery is the best for we old folks. Could get it here, but need smart phone, to sign up, with an Ap. Or some new-fangled-stuff. LOL So since I still drive, do it the pick-up way.

Oh and!!!!!! Our old fashioned flip phones still work!!!! And they aren't even telling us, to get new ones, because of G5, anymore!

    Gentle hugs,
