Like Mother, Like Daughter....

She has a good eye and has lots of time to perfect her skills at snapping shutters. These are my daughter's pictures. Her green thumb is featured here and her love of nature is prevalent! Neither of us is a professional - in fact we are really amateurs with inexpensive equipment but the results are acceptable, don't you think? Her name is Missy.
Can you see the wasp in the lower left blossom?
Can you see it now?
Luna Moths visit her often
Good for her garden!
She caught a Crappie in friend's pond
Zoey guards the garden but doesn't chase the deer. She plays with them!

Fine Finds

It was so nice to take a rideabout without rain! I found my eye candy for the day!

Does Not Belong...

"One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?
Did you guess which thing was not like the others?
Did you guess which thing just doesn't belong?
If you guessed this one is not like the others,
Then you're absolutely... right!

Only  bought one - should have two! Cut up and almost gone already. One half for me, one half for Mister. Now we have to go for more.
De-licious is all I can say.

Brother dropped off some nice cucumbers this morning. Salad in view! He said he is reaping many more than usual this year.

Ah! Summertime...

Really warm and humid here. We went to the library and then rode out to our favorite farm market. They open at 10am and we arrived at 9:55. Parking lot was full; inside there were already many shoppers. This is the place to go! We watched the unloading of a heap of corn from a box that was on the back of a ATV. When we put it in a bag it was still very warm from the sun! How fresh is that!! The cantaloupe bin was full and those were also a bit warm. A young girl was still packing the beautiful string beans into aerated bags. They went fast. Of course there were tomatoes, peppers, beets, squash, zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumbers of all sizes, and I forget what else. We went for corn. I can only do so much now.

Fresh Greens and Gardens

Still cannot type well, but want to tell you that the homemade broccoli soup I made with cheeses was delicious! Going back to produce stand soon for corn that is just being picked and buy a few tomatoes. Daughter in NJ says her Oxheart tomato plants are doing very well so far, reaching heights of over 5 feet and lots of tomatoes growing. Cage working well for blocking out squirrel invasions.

No recipe for soup. I just put in lots of good stuff.

Where are the Ruby Throats?

Our hummers don't seem to have ruby throats! Why? We have many and only once in a while there is a smaller one with a slim band of white around its neck.  Sometimes there are two or three like this one, each on a perch on the same feeder drinking to their heart's content! They prefer the red base glass feeder over the yellow glass ball feeder but they all come regularly. There is some bombing and zipping but mostly they drink. I have to refill the feeders about every three or four days.
