Halloween continued and today new!

The family in Philadelphia always celebrates together on Halloween as it is the wedding anniversary of my Nephew and Niece. These are only a very few of the options I have to grab some of their pictures.

Another family from New York state that shows two of my three great great grandkids. The third one wouldn't sit still for a shot as he was on a sugar high!
So far no images from the local great grandkids.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
This morning I made walnut candies. Easy and tasty as well.
Recipe available by request.

Now I'm working with my colorful leaves. Will show you after 2nd coat is applied. Too cold and windy today to work on it. Fun project!

Today is the 43rd anniversary of my NJ daughter and her husband. The photo is from their 30th!

All Things Bright and Beautiful

There are so many wonderful posts on the internet today of the autumn colors. The first are from Steve Goble and then I made a small collage with them. TRUE COLORS!

I was encouraged to take a buggy ride as the temperature was up to 70°. The last time I ventured out my fingertips turned yellow with the coldness! Well I did find color. It was the same everywhere. I was warm.
As I rode the dirt roads, leaves got in my hair, my buggy floor and on the windshield. I stopped and got out with the cane and poked around, finding some exceptional ones and brought them home for a project. I just couldn't resist. Will show you at another time how I used them. The maple were the prettiest - so variegated - the oak were tough and in perfect shapes with slight hues and not all brown.
AT home I dared to hang my new stained glass piece on the porch hook just to see the bright and beautiful colors. I definitely won't leave it there through winter though!
It looks like a home across the lake is having expansion underway. They better hurry up before the snow comes!

Early October Colors

It reached 65° here this morning and wasn't raining so I grabbed my scarf, gloves, hat and jacket and took Buggy out with the camera.

I know there will be muddy puddles to avoid but the air felt clear and I need some. It has been very difficult these last two weeks without my eyeglasses and I took pictures anyway. My new lenses had better come in soon because it is frustrating to use the camera without good eyesight! I had to leave the old glasses as I didn't want the expense of new frames. Now I regret that!

First are the wild turkeys... they gobbled at me and I gobbled back. It was fun! If you look closely you will see that they are where they are due to bird feeders nearby. Soon after I took the photos, they ran up into the woods behind the home.

The rest are shots of nearby trees and bushes that have some color but not at all like their usual burst of glory.

Blogger had something gone askew and my individual images won't upload so.....I made a short slide show!

Conefly

My leaf craft is finished! I'll hang it by the front door entrance. The leaves are preserved but still fragile.

Her name is "Flutter."

Elmer'd Leaves

One side almost dry and the backside to do. I apply with my fingers, liking the feeling. In my head a plan is forming of how I'm going to use these. It's probably a good thing that I don't have a "workroom" because there would be dozens more on the counter. No crafting tomorrow. It's laundry day and that trip and operation wears me out. After that I might be ready to play with leaves again. Bear with me. (Nope! I don't want yellow ones - only red will do.)

Autumn Awe

My ride today was a short one and I brought home some of the red maple leaves for a craft project. They are drying now after being washed from road muck. There were millions of them down already so I had a choice of the ones that pleased my eye. The hard part was to keep them from blowing out of the cubby as I didn't bring a container. Here are a few of the shots I took on this ride.

Maple Treat

Last year in May I picked up an empty bottle at a local yard sale. Because my brother makes maple syrup every year I gave it to him. I just thought it was neat for $3.00.
Last week, he brought me this gift on my birthday. It looks much better filled with that amber gold!
Of course I had to play in the leaves!

Colors on Dull Day

I was expecting it to rain at any time during my "blowout the cobwebs" ride around the lake this afternoon. I spotted the neighbor's bear and he is surely now safe from hunters as he watches out over the lake.  I don't know if he has a name and will ask.
As I have said before, the colors this year aren't spectacular except for a very few. This took my eye.

Pretty Local Views from a Past Year

Our daughter, Missy took these shots in our area in the year 2008. Back then she used her Canon PowerShot A520. She then got a new camera because that one malfunctioned. She got a Canon PowerShot A1200 - wore it out! Maybe Santa will bring her another this year.  I just thought you'd like to see our area in autumn of that year.
