Grocery Observation

A friend took me to the grocery store today and was a great help loading the back deck of her car with both her bags and mine. Mine were heavier as I had several large bottles of juices and soda and bleach, sugar, flour, and... you get the idea. She even unloads the bags after depositing them in my kitchen. (Younger is stronger in this case!)

As I was putting things away I couldn't help but notice that the size of many things are not what they used to be as I replenished my supplies. The one that really stood out was my paper towel rolls. I happened to have one older full roll left. The new ones were smaller. See?  I guess we'll all have to live with diminishing product sizes and increasing costs but I don't like it at all. It's isn't the store - it is the suppliers and manufacturers, I'm convinced. But as a frugal person it annoys me that this is happening. I can't buy one or two rolls either - they are packed in bundles of 6 or 9! Got me coming and going!

  1. Yes!!! I don't like these bulk packages of paper products either!! I live just less than a mile from neighborhood store & I shop often. But most of all my cupboards have no ROOM for multi-packs of anything!!

  2. Are they being sold as different sizes though? TP comes in so many different packages, which are in different sizes. It is very, very confusing.

This winter is going to be a bad one. Not only in the Health Care profession. A lot of companies are having trouble getting workers. Including the trucking industry.

Trucks... Which bring us everything, we need... Think about it....

And why is this? One thing is that people do not want to work, when the Gov. pays them unemployment. Why work, when you get money, without working?????

This teaches more people, to look to the Government, to "take care of them."

    Which is called Socialism.

    Bahhhhh-humbuggggggggggggggg...

    1. Yes, TP different sizes, my favorite paper towel - one size only. We are lucky to have paper plant in next town. No shortage of that for us anyway.

  3. Hey it goes by sheet count..Some roll are wound tighter then others and some depending on the size have more sheets to the roll. So it depends on what you buy. Haaaa!

    1. Well the towels are not from the "local" manufacturer and I AM NOT COUINTING SHEETS!! I KNOW they've cut back on quantity but at least the quality is still fine.
