Upbeat

I'm feeling very happy today because a touch of ambition has set in and I think it is due to the sun shining in and boosting my mood.

So when the yard guy stopped in this morning to check the roof thunks of yesterday (yes, there were 4 more later on) I had already baked and was able to share. After checking the roof and gutters and downspout, nothing was found - EXCEPT several pine cones. It is possible that the resounding thunk noises were the result of them falling. It is also possible that the old ceiling beams were contracting and that was the cause due to the sudden cold weather setting in.
Five to go - or to freeze!

Early Morning

Well, not really early ... it was 7:30am and the temperature was 26°. I had just turned up the thermostat to 72°. Steam was rising from the lake's surface as I looked out and the sun was streaming into the living room at the cabin. The electric blanket kept my feet and legs warm all night, even though my sleep was disturbed by a couple of thunks on the roof. I assume small limbs or branches came down up there. It can be checked later today. The sound was a bit eerie, but not frightening. In fact there was another one this morning. Things don't only go bump in the night!

(I love my 13 windows but will surely have to have them cleaned in the spring!)

Green Green Green!

It's time to plant my Portulaca and the Mother's Day Tuberous Begonia, even if it is going to rain more in the next days ahead.
I love the feel of the warm soil in my hands and never wear gloves. "Henry" my rooster is happy now.
The little colorful blossoms will soon bud and this tub will be a flashy, splashy and vibrant sight!
The Martha Washington Geranium now sports the trellis that the bully hummingbird loved as his lookout stand.
It is a painful process for me to wait for the daffodil leaves to die out and wither away before I can cut them off but it is a necessary process in order to have blossoms again next year. As you can see clearly, the Hosta and the Seedum plants are doing well in spite of being crowded.
The sunshine brought out a daughter and her dog, a fisherman, and a sun bather!

Heat Wave

The icicles are forming - - -
The sun will be out soon - - -

Bring the kids - - -
Bring the dogs - - -
Let's have an ice fishing party!

Altogether this afternoon we counted 15 individuals out on the lake enjoying the sun and agreeability of this beautiful day.

The fish were biting and the feet were not freezing. That's a change! Please leave some scraps for the eagles~~~

Experimenting with Art

Today I created two images and am learning how to do more than photos. The sunny picture was a fun-to-do project.
The picture of a great nephew on a winter city street was transformed to a nephew in a different location.

Today I had a lesion removed. Payback for all my sun exposure through the years....awaiting biopsy results.  Interesting year!
