Early Morning

Well, not really early ... it was 7:30am and the temperature was 26°. I had just turned up the thermostat to 72°. Steam was rising from the lake's surface as I looked out and the sun was streaming into the living room at the cabin. The electric blanket kept my feet and legs warm all night, even though my sleep was disturbed by a couple of thunks on the roof. I assume small limbs or branches came down up there. It can be checked later today. The sound was a bit eerie, but not frightening. In fact there was another one this morning. Things don't only go bump in the night!

(I love my 13 windows but will surely have to have them cleaned in the spring!)

Suprise!

I looked out the kitchen window when making coffee this morning at 6:20am and what did I see? This!

Right away I knew what it was. The ground is too unlevel for me to go out there to get my picture at the front of the critter, so I did a zoom shot. Sorry no front-end view but I couldn't take the chance of falling on the slippery and wet grassy bank. Maybe when my daughter comes over she can poke him back into the lake.
I can't say how large he is, but it's certainly not a baby.

Early Visitors

These two travelers surprised me as they passed the cabin, walking on the road. I think they saw me seeing them through the window as they quickly moved on and crossed, going back into the woods. I was in a fog myself, just out of bed and pouring my coffee. Guess I was lucky to capture them at all!

Four at Seven

I climbed out of bed at 7am and wandered into the dining area, looking out the window as I headed for my coffee cup. What did I see? Well, I thought I saw a large brown dog and three puppies on our beachfront lawn. Then my vision and brain got together and I realized it was two doe and two fawns.

Of course the camera was in its bag, all zipped up. Of course It was set to the viewer on the back and not on the eye viewer which I like best to use. As I fumbled to get it adjusted and went to the window to try to capture this herd, the largest doe spotted me and ran. You can see her on the far left of the photo. The little ones stayed to nibble on grassy weeds and the smaller doe remained alert before the four trotted on up the road.

I guess I'm happy enough to have captured their images at all! I didn't even take time to put on my eyeglasses! What do you think?

Yellow is the Color Today

A morning person, I am. After lunch, I have no ambition to do anything physical at all anymore.

This morning, when I was searching for some cheese sticks to have one for my breakfast, I came across a dozen eggs that I had been saving back on the shelf to hard boil for salad. Whoops! They are a bit old, I think about 2 weeks, but I boiled them anyway. At least they were easy to peel.

Since the sun is shining strong, and the ice fishermen were all out there, a surge of desire for deviled eggs struck me, so…..

If you want to know why there are two empty spaces in the container, it is because I had an egg for breakfast instead of a cheese stick.
