Nightwalker

Nope! Not hunting for worms! Actually I thought I'd try to capture the Hunter's moon last night at 6:30 pm when I first saw it through the dining room window - it beckoned me to give a try at a capture. I didn't bother to set up a tripod and just went out there, camera in hand.

Hunter's Moon signals the time to hunting in preparation for cold winter months ahead. Yes, I'm resigned to the fact that winter is coming. I've been trying to prepare in my own way.

It was really dark out there and the car was gone and I soon realized that I always used it to guide me from the side door to the corner of the cabin. Believe me, I was VERY careful! Two shots and back in safe. Yay! It was REALLY dark out there!

My results are not spectacular but I did it! Can you tell where the sky ends and the lake begins? I cannot!

Strawberry Season

Last night was the "Strawberry Moon" and tonight is going to be strawberry shortcake! They don't come any better than these that were JUST picked locally. Bigger, prettier-looking berries can't compare with the juiciness and flavor of these.

The Summer Solstice coincided with the rise of a full "Strawberry Moon." It hasn't occurred since 1967 and won't again until June 21, 2062. I'm fairly sure I won't be here. The Algonquin tribes named it because it indicated the time to gather berries. Another source says that it may have gotten its name from Native American tribes because it arrives in June, when strawberry season is at its peak. When the moon is close to the horizon, it takes on a reddish tint. In Europe the June full moon is sometimes known as the "Rose Moon."

We're going back for more in two days. It is a "first come, first served " system because they are in heavy demand sold by the box or a flat of eight boxes.

Made for Myself

I don't take very good moon photos. I learned this a couple of years ago. My camera just isn't able - it's not me! REALLY! I set it to night mode, use a tripod, sometimes even zoom but to no avail.

A couple of years ago I took the full moon EVERY month on the exact night of its appearance. Well, they were just OK shots. I've stopped trying after that "grand effort."

Then the other evening it happened again - I was moonstruck so out I went, but again results were less that I hoped for. BUT.....here is what I did with the photo.
