Pink!

My monster attack plant has settled down and is producing  pretty pink blossoms. 

Found this on internet and it may be the same variety of succulent. (pachyphytum)

Well since I have a new one—maybe two!— growing from the original plant, a leaf that fell off, we may see what happens next.

Looking closer I see THREE!

Well I finally figured out the name of one of my succulents that I have propagated. It took some research after I saw a change in the mother plant. Look!

When I removed its 'baby' and put it into a separate pot, it took only a couple of days for this to happen! She is producing a blossom!  The internet photos with open blossoms are shown below.

Meet Crassula Tetragona! Isn't nature wonderful?!!!!!

When I bought this succulent there was no tag telling me what it was or how to care for it. After research I identified it and learned about what to expect. Today I'm delighted to see blossoms!

Mini Blue Chalkstalks makes a wonderfully low-maintenance, drought-tolerant ground cover in frost-free climates, but it can also overwinter indoors near a sunny window or under a grow light. With time and plenty of sun, it can even cascade from containers. It produces a classic Asteraceae flower: a white pompom made up of tiny, fragrant blossoms.

Another Quick and Easy Project

Early this morning I found a container, got my kitchen scissors, grabbed my cane and went to reap some of those beautiful chive blossoms. I figured out how to mash the blossoms because I've lost my pestle. I scrubbed the handle of a 13 inch screwdriver!  A three cup plastic container of the blossoms mashed down to about 1/2 cup in the container. After transferring them into a pint glass jar, I poured 1 1/2 cups of white vinegar over them and put on the lid. It will take two weeks in a dark place for the infusion to be complete and then I'll strain it and re-bottle my chive blossom vinegar.  I borrowed three canning jars from a neighbor for my various projects. As I don't can anymore I had given them all away. I have many nice plastic containers that I use to freeze applesauce and soups, etc., but vinegar infusions need to go in glass containers. 

They make a nice bouquet for the counter too!

Short Rideabout

I was quite a way from home watching a slider turtle in the beaver pond while hoping that the huge snapping turtle would appear. I looked down and saw - to my horror - that my battery gauge had taken a dive to 0 battery! I hightailed it right back home. When I arrived it still registered extremely low battery but when I turned off the key and then turned it back on, the needle jumped right back to what I thought I had left - 1/2 charged! I have no idea what happened but it cut my ride too short....

Back to the beginning of the ride. I think dandelions are beautiful. There is no sight prettier than a field of these. I have my grandmother's recipe for dandelion wine and my mother used to make it. I have, in the past and it was tasty!

Further down the road I saw a cardinal eating from last year's cattails. Shooting into the sun made it a nice black and white silhouette picture.

A wild cherry tree by the side of the road was just starting to blossom.

The wild-growing bleeding heart isn't very strong but trying to be bright.

There are many little wild strawberry plants in blossom and I shall take a cup with me the next time as I expect to pick some in a few days. There were bees at work but I didn't see a single butterfly! There is a small family of Canada geese now and we counted four goslings. They better stay away from our beachfront with their messy leavings.

The SC flower is in full bloom and the sun is shining!

The beach is beautiful and warm.

The egret is growing restless to find a mate.

 And look at that green grass!
