Remembering...

The death of very nice friend during this past week has impacted us strongly and brought forth so many memories of those who also have gone on before. At least thirty of those have been brought to mind and I think of many of these friends very often.

Our SC "beach" friends who are not now here on earth include Charlie H., Cliff W., Doug M., Howard S., Joe B., John B., Keith G., Max C., Morris M., Odeen F., Ray V.,  "Snooky," Ginny S., Joan M., and Mary D. All of these friends have died during only the past ten years.

Some of our PA friends and nearby neighbors who have died throughout the past ten years include Alvin S., Bernie Z., Bill M., Floyd W., Gordon S., Harold E., Jack W., Joe C., Larry C., Paul K., Rich C., Rolly L., Jan L., Jane C., Joan W., and Nancy B.

Dean B., Marion L., Doyle T., Thelma H., Beverly S., Marge, Bill and Dave R., Millie and John Y., Joe and Betty G., Elmer, Harriet H. and Lola W., "Papa," Bill and John D., died earlier. There are more. Their memories remain very strong in our hearts.

To most of you who will read this, they are just names. To some of you they are also in your own memories. This list doesn't include any relatives or family members. I'm not going there today.

Tranquil Transition

You can take all of your memories with you and you can leave memories for others. Memories don't die.

OH! What a Day it is!

My birthday flowers from March are so pretty as they sit on the front porch, attracting bees and reflecting marvelous glow due to the sunny day!  Cut Alstroemeria last a very long time! They are commonly called the Peruvian Lily and grow from a cluster of tubers. They come in many assorted and lovely colors. 

James is wearing his forsythia garland and is waiting for the daffodils to bloom. They promised to do just that soon.

These last couple of days had been exciting to see nature fly by and into places. I ACTUALLY saw a bald eagle fly over the lake, dip his claws into the water, and scoop up a large fish! I was in the kitchen and was so shocked that I didn't even have a minute to grab the camera as he flew over the dam into the woodland below carrying his trophy. THEN...this morning a huge red-tailed hawk flew into and right through my neighbor's double pane window, causing shattered glass to be blown indoors everywhere.

On the way to the laundromat this morning, the Mister saw a hen turkey coming up out of another neighbor's driveway and then on the way home two deer were walking down another neighbor's driveway. 

But best of all.....A big hearted neighbor, noticing our sad front lawn, brought his Bobcat to the rescue and smoothed it out, no charge! He just wished us Happy Easter!

Stella continued - March 17, 2017

All across our region, folks felt the wrath of the blizzard...but few were hit harder than Susquehanna County. We live here and people in all of our area had a hard and long time with snow throwing!

These nearby neighbors had to have someone come to open up the path to their garage with a tractor and bucket loader. Their truck and plow couldn't make the path to the garage and later found their Honda Element named "Toaster," which was left out during the blizzard, got frosted just like a pop tart.

My Mister corrected me in calling the snow thrower a snowblower! Now I know. BUT...it blows and throws. 

He had me call the township road department this morning to have someone come and break through a four foot opening at the road edge so our snow THROWER can make the path to the propane tank and to the burn pile area. We understand how it was plugged in, but it was grass and sod and too large and hard for us to manage.  They came almost as soon as I hung up and the opening is made. I mentioned to the driver how hard it was for the plowman to see the road during the blizzard and forgive him for the mess. He laughed and said it was he who plowed! Now the Mister has to make the paths. Tomorrow...
