Tribute - Mother was a Sharing Lady

Not counting the afghans she created for me and my sons and daughters, she kept her hands very busy in later years before having to enter a skilled nursing home due to an awful fall breaking her femur. Some were sold, some were donated or made as gifts. She not only made these afghans, she documented them with her camera - hanging each one on her backyard clothesline to get the shot!  I'm so fortunate to have found these images in an old album!

My Mother

Happy Mother's Day to all of you out there! Here are a few pictures of my mother, whose influence and patience had huge impacts on me and my interests. She was a talented woman with a beautiful loving heart.
 James, her maternal grandfather-1914
 She had many pet chickens-1918
A doll collection of over 100-1921
 Graduation at age 17-1931
 Growing Family 50th Anniversary-1984

It's THAT Kind of Day

The rain is coming down very heavy, the winds are blowing and sitting in, watching the hummingbirds through the window, is what I'm doing. There is one little guy that sits and drinks from the feeder and then flies to the plant trellis below the feeder to sleep; back and forth, over and over again. Yes he does this constantly - naps! Sometimes his little head droops off to the side, but mostly he looks for "enemies' to attack him. This has gone on for the past four hours! He owns this feeder and trellis! Others fly in but are chased away immediately and his territory is secured again!

The phone calls and e-messages have already been received and I'm having a very nice Mother's Day, even if it is 39° and wet. I wish ALL of you "out there" to have a nice day too.

Momma's Near

Resting here since 2005
Her grandmother and her shoes

Momma's Near

Momma's on my shelf
Because I put her there.
It was four years ago
She doesn't have a care.

She's close to me nearby
She doesn't rest alone.
She watches over me
As she has always done.

Her time was filled with joy
Her time endured some pain.
Her love of God was strong
On my shelf she shall remain.

Great Day!

Our daughter stopped in with Martha Washington Geraniums for me this morning. These are my very favorites. We then all went to lunch at Jenny Leigh's Country Cookin' Restaurant in Kingsley PA - about 9 miles away. We love that quaint and homey place. The Mister treated us both as an early MD lunch.

The Day after Mother's Day

A trip to our favorite place to find flowers was our mission this morning. They are almost all still under the greenhouse cover but we did buy a few. Aren't they beautiful? Henry will be happy.

I forgot to show you the simple and tasty lunch we had on Mother's Day. I love this BBQ chicken which is cooked by a local mobil setup in a nearby business parking lot. They just opened again after their winter's rest. The Mister said there was quite a lineup for dinners and even pork BBQ but just chicken halves are all we manage. A tad of Bailey's went along with them and we were stuffed!
Of course there are snail mail cards set up on display and several e-mail messages were received. One of them was a funny and lengthy video card. Telephone calls from other parts of the country came through and I felt loved. Still do.

"Pecos Bill's barbecued chicken is grilled over an open flame and is basted with Hayley's Wild Wild White sauce throughout the cooking process. This results in mouth watering chicken that delights the senses."
