Time...

OH! It is the time of the year when the warmth of the lake water starts to diminish and cool down drastically. We had heat on for the last two nights and, though the days are nice, the nights are moving into change. When we are older we like to be warm. Nature rules, again!

Rideabout Yesterday

It still is a bit early to see many blooms except daffodils and dandelions around my area. This was only a short ride. It was good to breathe fresh air, though. Today it is much cooler and sprinkling as I write.

One more thing... When I rinsed out my new fermentation crock I saw this greeting on the bottom! I knew it was special!

Jumbos on Independence Day

I made these last January and felt very ambitious this morning.  If you would like to know more about them please check in to my old blog of the procedure here.    Lemon Jumbos
These are some of today's freshly made. Of course several are missing - as should be! I think we have a couple left.
Meanwhile out on the lake kids and kayaks, parents and canoes, and sightseers were "out there" enjoying the good weather.
Our own family went fishing.
Well not all of us. Son-in-law needed a good nap after our porch picnic.
No hustle-bustle and just great relaxing day for all. We enjoy our simple country-style living.

My Country Specials

We went on a 10 mile trip down the road to pick up some excellent meat products this morning. I won't tell you what all we bought - you will have to guess. It's all good! We watched a hanging beef being washed while we were being served in the shop! Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the days for hogs and beef to be slaughtered on site. Neat stuff!

Northeast PA's Custom Butcher Shop since the 1920's. Serving farmers, hunters and families throughout NEPA, the Endless Mountains Region of Pennsylvania and the Southern Tier of New York for four generations, Stepniak Beef offers professional butchering services with exceptional personalized service.

Inside Stepniak's retail store you will find fresh sausage, smoked products, and delicious cheese.

After arriving near home I was able to take some pictures of our nearby scenery.

Large crabapple tree on the left.
Love the sky today!
The lake is hidden from view from the upper road to home
I see it way out there!
There it is - I see our cabin!
Look at that sky! Coming across the dam now...
Almost to the cabin...
