Note Cards Continution...

Being indoors in this awful cold weather just stimulates me to make more note cards and I'm glad I brought SOME supplies with me. I'm still starving for ribbon and this Walmart didn't have ANY! We would have to go out on the main highway to another mall to find a craft store and I will get by without it for now.

These are to be part of my "Painted Dahlia" series. These prints are my photo manipulations of a lovely dahlia I shot last year. Sorry that they don't photograph as well as they look - perfectly rectangular. I can't seem to figure out how to shoot down on them correctly.

Camellia Study of Four Bushes HD 1080p

I wasn't sure how to spell this flower. It is listed as both Camellia and Camelia! Also, I took more pictures of a pinkish flower that may be one, but I also thought it could be a Magnolia, even though it was just a low bush. The leaves resemble the Camellias more but the centers don't. They have no fragrance so I've ruled out Gardenia.

Many of the bushes have freezing and ice damage but I found several intact yesterday. I really like the pink ones!

I Caught Him..

I Caught Him!

On the way through the daffodils he was spotted in the shallows. When he saw me he then flew to the other side of the lake, landing on the grassy bank. I caught him-snap snap!  and he flew away. Ha! Ha! I’m sorry I wasn’t quick enough to capture him on the fly because he was MAGNIFICENT!

Bingo Pizza

Usually every Saturday night we treat ourselves to pizza. I, personally do not like going out to eat and the Mister usually orders by telephone and then goes to pick up or we stay home and I prepare it.

For several years past, I have used the frozen box-type and it was OK, but not great.

Recently, oh say for about 4 years, our friends in SC have been supplying us with the bread and I create our own. The Saturday night pizza is now call “Bingo Pizza.” That is because the French loaves and/or Italian loaves are winnings from the regular bingo games held at the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base Recreation Center. Many friends go there on a regular basis every Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to noon. There is no charge for bingo, but everyone brings a prize for the prize table. The local grocery stores also donate many good out-of-date items, such as donuts, vegetables, fruits, and breads. Since I don’t care for being in groups or crowds and don’t care for the bingo activity, I don’t participate.

But - I like the donations after friends return from the games. It seems that they win more than they can use, week after week, and I just freeze the excess bonanza.

Now, if I had the ambition, I might make my sauce, but I find the store sauce to be quite fine. I use high quality shredded mozzarella, and precooked sausage crumbles. That’s the way we like our pizza. Before baking I drizzle extra virgin olive oil  over each piece. It is then baked in a 400° over for about 20 minutes.

Now I have to confess that I eat 1 1/2 slices and he devours the 2 1/2. There is none leftover and we are full! - until next week - of “Bingo Pizza.”

It has been a busy day here with visitors and sharing sessions. I’ve only made 6 more cards and my goal was 10, but I want them to look nice and the embellishment papers I was given present me with too many choices! I have no ribbon, either and I WANT RIBBON! Half inch scraps to be exact. Well when we go shopping maybe Walmart will have some. I hate to pay full price when scraps are all I’d like, preferably an assortment. I’ve tried to use paper punches, you know, the kind that punch decorative holes in the paper. The ones I borrowed are not strong enough to go through my card stock nor the photos. I gave up on that idea right away.

So…here are today’s cards. Sure hope I can make more. Sometimes I just don’t feel like getting it all out - it’s the preparation that is a nuisance, and the cleanup.

Tomorrow is going to be a nice day according to the local weatherman. We sure hope so. Then it will go down, d o w n, DOWN again! Oh well.

This photo is from Hawaii and was taken by a dear friend. I thought I might write her a note.

All of the others are mine.

Hanging Indoors...

Well I’ll bet you wonder what I’ve been doing. I’ll tell you that not much is going on here right now. It is a bit too chilly for long stays outdoors, even though the sun has been shining. I'm waiting for more flowers to bloom and, of course the pollen.

Reading and note-card making today have been my main occupations and now I’m in a creative mood so the note card count will increase. I just started feeling the mood and have all of my supplies ready and waiting. I brought them from home and now realize that my workspace here is uncomfortably limited! And there is the question of meals. Spread it out, start to work, and suddenly it is mealtime! (Not for me, but the Mister insists on eating at regular hours.)

Ok, I'll stop fussing now and maybe I will have created more than the measly six that I made this morning. I do not work on projects after lunch because my creative juices flow only in the morning! Would you believe that? It's true.

They are actually perfectly rectangle-shaped 5 1/4 x 8 inches so can be mailed with only one stamp on the envelope. This photographer had a bit of a time taking their pictures.

Back and Forth

They went to the left - they turned to the right = they turned to the left - they went to the right. Then they crossed the road after finally deciding what they really wanted to do in the first place!

the turtles were hanging out =

the ibis and geese were looking for food = but sadly, the great blue heron flew away from me so now i'M REALLY ON A HUNT!
