There is a fellow down the road who is a very avid fisherman. I see him all the time loading his kayak or canoe into the lake from the dam. The property from which he departs does not have beach front so he launches off at "my" end of the lake. I see him often. He is a silent fellow and pleasant to watch. A catch and release guy who just has a 'go-to' place for a serene environment, I guess. This morning I took pictures and then just could not decide which image I liked best so here are four for viewing.

High and Mighty Song
As I was riding on a back road this morning I heard a persistent birdsong. It drew my attention upward - WAY upward to a very high line above the electric and cable wires. There it sat singing. I have tried to get its photo for many a day, but it always flew away before I could even put my camera to my eye. I thought it was a Scarlet Tananger. NOPE! After a little research I realized it was a male Baltimore Oriole. The first two photos below are from the internet.
My photos don't show its white patches on the wings. It was WAY up there! But it didn't fly away either when it saw me and kept on singing. I was thrilled.

White Tail, Red Tomatoes
I watched this little fella hopping and pecking for a long time before getting the camera. I have NEVER seen this bird before. When I tried to research to determine what species it was, I only really came upon one site that gave good information. See link below. I guess he is just a common, (but uncommon) Junco!
Yes, I know my pictures aren't great. |
It sure waved its white tail up and down all the time. |
Peck! Peck! |
"Someone" forgot to pluck off the extra blossoms on one of these! |
Right front tomato already eaten. |

Baking, Birding, Blooming Hodge-Podge
Yes, I'm still at it. This pan is already almost empty. I used golden raisins for a change; mostly French bread this time.
I then spotted this Red-winged Blackbird high up in a tree. He was really singing sweetly. The male Red-winged Blackbird's conk-la-ree! is a classic sound of wetlands across the continent.
Today, as I rode along the edge of the large pond, I spotted one lonely flower peeking from the middle of this patch.
Then, I saw so many pretty Bindweed flowers that I had a choice of selecting a few to capture.
The Dog Fennel is flourishing in several areas.
These Veronica Longifolia were bedded beside a nearby unit.
And these were as well...
I DID NOT change the color to make the Peace Lily so yellow! |
Guess my camera really really captures yellow! |
