Lake Fishing Story

Ever since he was a very young boy, our grandson loved to go fishing. He often caught many different species. Through the years our lake has had Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, White Crappie, Black Crappie, Yellow Perch, Walleye, Chain Pickerel, Brown Bullhead and even Channel Catfish. I'm not sure how many still are waiting to be hooked, but we sure know that the Bass are the most popular! I went digging in old files and found a few of him and his fish.

In July 2009 he was in a terrible car accident and the injuries were severe and life threatening.
Fishing helped with his healing, both mind and body. Growing large pumpkins was another helpful activity.

Our Helpers

Along with each of them working a full week at a local wood cabinet manufacturing plant, doing side jobs in carpentry, taking care of her ailing family members and finding time for each other, our grandson and his girlfriend arrived this morning to carry on the beam cleaning and stuff-dusting in this old cabin. We can no longer keep up and do not climb ladders now. What a wonderful thing is is to have "helpers" who seem to enjoy assisting us with the mundane but necessary annual spring cleaning. They did the "other end" in the kitchen area exactly a month ago. Thanks to Alex and Denise we are back in shape here and really appreciate the cooperation they have working together, to get the job finished.

Alex the Fisherman

His bass was 17 1/2 " and I already forgot what it weighed but it sure was the heaviest this year for the Lake's annual Independence Day Fishing Derby. As you can see, the Mister took it in 2008 and Alex in 2013.  Somehow the first trophy, containing the names of several more winners since the annual contest started is missing! I have a picture of it somewhere and will look. Together Alex and his girlfriend caught a total of 16 bass in that one day and threw them all back.

Pumpkins' Remains

From pigs to pumpkins, how did I get here?

This little(?) pumpkin went to a party,
These little pumpkins went to the distillery,
These little pumpkins had a get-together,
This little pumpkin had no friends, and was alone,
This little pumpkin strayed from home and got himself trapped in the tomato patch and he cried all day long!
Pumpkins courtesy of my grandson who grows them every year.

Meanwhile...back at a granddaughter's farm in NY the pumpkins and the pigs got together!
