Successful Experiment

I had a tube of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls on hand and needed to use them by the "use by" date. They were purchased to be used with a future meal, BUT......

I also had a package of Perdue Short Cuts.

There was a large bag of Sargento shredded cheese in the freezer.

I tried to do something with these three items and it was a complete success - surprising even to me as I truly made it up and it wasn't a recipe found anywhere.

The Mister loved my conglomeration and I enjoyed it too.  Please don't suggest that we eat more sensibly and in a more healthy manner. I will ignore you. We seem to be doing OK with my culinary arts and experiments, and do consume a very varied menu.

The chicken I used was precooked carved chicken breast pieces. The Crescent rolls were "Grands." (8 in all) I pressed two together on waxed paper to form oblongs. That made 4 rectangles.

The cheese was the finely cut variety of shredded cheddar.

After pressing two triangles together, I put 5 strips of chicken in the middle, covered them with as much cheese as they would accomodate, and then covered them with the other two oblong pieces and sealed the edges with my fingers.

I put them on parchment paper (in case they leaked - they didn't) and baked them on a cookie sheet for about 40 minutes in a 350° oven.

Soooo delicious!!! Who knew? The mister ate one whole one and part of mine. There was a small portion left over - covered and refrigerated for a lunch snack.

  1. Sounds really good and I'm glad your experiment worked out. I guess you can't go wrong with crescent rolls, chicken and lots of cheese... yum :)
