Active Family

First of all, I must say that our son has always been a car buff. When he was a young child and then a teen he built many model cars from kits. It is just now as he approaches the age of 60 that he decided to finally have his dream car. He drove here over the weekend for some showtime visits; so proud and happy!

And we have a grandson who looks like a plumber! He actually was attempting to remove an embedded hook from his mother's fish.
Then he needed to carry the boat battery to the charger after catching another nice fish.
Just too much excitement for me. I'll go take flower pictures now.

Sunday Crusin' at the Lake

I have so much to write but will try to spread it out over several days. First of all, I love my new ride. I drove to a friend's home around the bend and then went all around the lake, taking pictures of flowers. I have to re-hone my skills because it's been a while since I've taken wild and garden flower pictures. Here is a SMALL selection of what I found yesterday.  Later in the day, some good pictures were taken when family members visited. I'll post them tomorrow.

Call me Crazy

Made a decision to get around better. My recent "artwork" keeps me indoors and the sun is shining and the air is just right and I need to get away from the computer more often. Now I will find flowers and fauna to photograph while moving here and there without serious difficulty. I'll save up ideas to create for the winter. The two creations I just made will justify the new thing in the yard. I was getting out of hand. I may still bake, though. Maybe.
Keeping it SIMPLE! Less is MORE!

Alex the Fisherman

His bass was 17 1/2 " and I already forgot what it weighed but it sure was the heaviest this year for the Lake's annual Independence Day Fishing Derby. As you can see, the Mister took it in 2008 and Alex in 2013.  Somehow the first trophy, containing the names of several more winners since the annual contest started is missing! I have a picture of it somewhere and will look. Together Alex and his girlfriend caught a total of 16 bass in that one day and threw them all back.

Fishing Family

Our grandson has been an avid fisherman since he was a very young child. His mother loves fishing, as almost all of our other children and grandchildren do. The Mister and his mother did as well. Today the Mister caught only a couple of sunnies and one crappy from the spillway abutment. Last night our grandson and his girlfriend caught a few. They came in late and I almost missed taking a picture. The boat battery was put back on charge.
They went out this late morning and caught a few bass. Then it rained very hard, thunder and lightning chased them back to shore. We had lunch consisting of baked macaroni, cole slaw, sweet sausage with peppers and onions and chocolate bundt cake. After the rain stopped, they went fishing again and are still out there as I write. I see more successful results as I look out on the lake. Catch and release is what they do, but first come to shore for pictures. Today the lake competition started for the heaviest bass over 12 inches long caught. The volunteer weighmaster person was put to work and there is a chance one of their fish will be the winner. The contest is over tomorrow at noon so we won't know until after then. The Mister has won the perpetual trophy and the grandson has as well, years ago. It's fun for them to compete but all they really care about is the sport.
SEE? I told you fishing runs in the family. This is my great grandfather, James and his son-in-law, my grandfather Aurelius. (DATE UNKNOWN)
