Back Road Travels...

...In my buggy! I got 'lost' yesterday and stayed out over two hours. Knew I should return as I was hungry!  (I wasn't lost at all actually and hated to stop the day's exploration.) The interesting sights and the beautiful surroundings had me captured. Hear the quiet. That is a good thing with a battery-operated buggy! First image is of the resident Canada geese. There are three goslings but two were in the water below the bank.

This young'un seems lost. Why is he sniffing gravel?
Ride on! The Mullein should send up its stalk of yellow flowers soon. I'll try to capture it when it happens.
Yes, peonies of all colors are in full bloom in many yards.
Just around the corner at the "bass end" of the lake fungus grows from a rotting stump.
Many fields in the area are cut and drying, ready to be tedded, then baled.
Wild pink Mallow are popping up along the road's edges.
Many banks are covered with Foxglove.
Further on I found a multitude of red clover and Birdsfoot Trefoil.
I couldn't resist the climbing Clematis.
Mountain Laurel throughout the woodland is flourishing.
Hang on tight! This is rock country, evident by old stone fences throughout the area. I wonder how old they are. I felt a connection to these and my soul was filled with awe and respect.
WHAT IS THAT?????

More Colors

Another buggy ride and I'm really enjoying being out but still have to wear a jacket! Let's start with Bee Balm/Wild Bergamot.

Mix in with some daisies!
Now add some light pink columbine!
Add to the columbine some other pink flowers...
And now find a stalk of dark pink columbine!
While we're in the pink section see the rhododendron.
Watch out for the wasp!
White clover is just around the corner.
And the buttercups dance with the ferns and hay.
White roses start out as pinkish buds!
And carry a hint of the hue.....
Speaking of roses, how about little yellow ones?
Today we end our colorful trip with orange meadow lillies.

Colors Galore

Results of my rideabout yesterday. First I found some wild spearmint and nipped off a couple of short stems. I plan to go back and cut longer pieces to propagate in water.

Then I found a wildflower growing in front of an old barn and cut a flower to bring home to ascertain that my identification is correct. Yes, it is a purple columbine and a very healthy one at that! Many blossoms were open with more to go.
Every year my neighbor's bright poppies grow in an untended bed that is around his mailbox. I have taken better pictures in past years but just couldn't resist the urge to snap a couple more.
Another neighbor has magnificent yellow iris and those too, were begging for me to capture them.
The marigold bed was overflowing so I tried to get closeup shots of a few. Well they are not as sharp as I hoped for but still pretty and colorful!
That was yesterday and I plan to hit the dirt road before the rains come. Wonder what will grab my eye this time? Stay tuned.

Rose

I took the original picture in the SC campground ten years ago on May 12, 2012. (Being inspired today, I flipped it and played with it.) It pays to sometimes look back at old stuff on the computer! When it is difficult to find subjects for my work, I can always find some there.

Soooooo, here is my artwork for today.

Chives

Every year in June these come to full bloom. I have once before made chive vinegar with them. I seems such a waste not to use them all. The leaves can be snipped and used as garnishes on salads, soups, etc. There are sooooooo many here!
I am waiting for my new batch of vinegar to become ready. Couldn't help myself in plucking a few and making it again. I've posted about this before and the two different links below will lead you to more information.

Flower Play

Just foolin' around here today. I took my Iris image and transformed it. Not sure I'm finished but had fun time exploring options. I drew over it, painted it, cut background somewhat, etc.

FINE TUNED A BIT
